Concrete Contractors in Pickering | Valiant Concrete Finishing

Pickering Concrete Driveways, Patios and Slabs

Pickering runs from lakeside streets in the south to working acreage in the north, and the two ask for different things from a slab. Valiant Concrete Finishing pours backyard patios, driveways, structure pads and large yard slabs for homeowners and businesses across the city, built on a compacted base with drainage and reinforcement set before anything is formed. Our work runs through Bay Ridges, West Shore, Amberlea, Rougemount, Brock Ridge and Claremont.

Large concrete pad poured on a rural property in Pickering

Claremont

Large Yard Pad

A wide pad poured on open acreage, formed and staked out on level ground well clear of the house. Soil excavated, granular base compacted for drainage, wire mesh through the pour and 5 inch concrete with a broom finish.

Concrete structure pad with anchor bolts set beside a garage in Pickering

Greenwood

Structure Pad

A pad poured to take a building, with anchor bolts set into the wet concrete on the layout the customer supplied. Excavated and compacted, gravel edge left around the perimeter to keep water off the slab, and finished level.

240 sq ft | 1 day on site
Finished concrete backyard patio in an established Pickering yard

Amberlea

Backyard Patio

Dropped into an established yard without tearing up the landscaping around it. Squared off the back steps, pitched away from the house, and finished with a gravel border so the edge drains instead of holding water against the slab.

Country Properties

Acreage Is Easier to Reach and Harder to Service

North of the 407 the access is wide open, but the wells, septic beds and buried lines are not where they would be in a subdivision. We locate what is underground before excavating, because on a rural property the thing you hit is usually the thing that is expensive.

Structure Pads

A Pad Under a Building Has to Be Right the First Time

Shops, sheds and detached garages need a pad that is square, level and has the anchor bolts set on the correct layout while the concrete is still wet. There is no adjusting it afterward, so we work off the supplier drawings rather than a rough measurement.

Lakeside Streets

Established Yards Take a Careful Approach

Down in Bay Ridges and West Shore the lots are older, the yards are finished and the access is tight. Getting material in without wrecking a lawn or a garden is part of the job, and we agree what has to survive before the machine shows up.

Pickering Concrete Questions

Do you work in rural north Pickering?

Yes, including Claremont, Greenwood and the surrounding acreage. Access is usually easier out there than in town, and the difference is what is underground rather than what is above it.

Can you pour a pad for a shed, shop or detached garage?

Yes. A structure pad has to be square, level and have anchor bolts set on the right layout while the concrete is still wet, so we work from the building supplier's drawings rather than a rough measurement.

Do I need a permit for a shed or garage pad?

It depends on the size of the building going on it and what it is used for, and the threshold is set by the City rather than by us. Confirm it with the City before booking, and we will build the pad to whatever the approved drawings call for.

My property is on a well and septic. Does that matter?

It does. Septic beds, well lines and buried services are rarely where they would be on a serviced lot, so we locate them before excavating. It is worth telling us what you know about the layout at the estimate.

Can you build a patio without wrecking my yard?

Usually, and it is worth agreeing beforehand what has to survive. We plan the access route and protect what is staying, but anything inside the excavation footprint has to come out.

How much does a concrete slab cost in Pickering?

Priced by measured square footage, with access and base depth factored in for what the slab has to carry. We measure on site and quote off that number, and published pricing by size is on our pricing pages.

Which parts of Pickering do you serve?

Across the city, including Bay Ridges, West Shore, Amberlea, Rougemount, Brock Ridge, Liverpool, Duffin Heights and Claremont, along with the surrounding Durham area.
